Social Media Marketing Visibility Gets A Boost With Google’s Real-Time Search

Google has begun to roll out its new real-time search function, which is expected to be fully implemented within the next several days. Experts say that the incorporation of real-time results in Google’s ubiquitous search pages is a game-changer for online marketing professionals.

It must be noted, of course, that Google’s main competition – Microsoft’s Bing – already has a real-time search function, but analysts say that the fact that Microsoft has offered Twitter search as a separate service limits its utility. Bing also indexes Facebook content in a similar way.

Google’s new real-time results, on the other hand, will be incorporated directly into pages of search results, though only if enough relevant real-time content is available. The search engine scours primarily Twitter feeds, but also looks for blog posts and online news content among many other secondary sources.

A deal to incorporate Facebook status updates into Google’s real-time search results was a last-minute addition to the announcements, along with similar agreements about content from MySpace, FriendFeed, and Jaiku.ADNFCR-1844-ID-19502026-ADNFCR
